Women for Zero Hunger is a competition and capacity-building program co-led by WIA Philanthropy and Stop Hunger, aimed at empowering African women economically to fight hunger and food insecurity. The program identifies and supports local African organisations that are creating sustainable solutions to improve food security while enhancing women’s economic autonomy.

Selected organisations, called laureates, receive financial grants, 6 months of mentoring and capacity-building support, and visibility within global networks, helping them to scale their projects, improve impact measurement, and increase their effectiveness in reducing hunger.

The initiative focuses on sectors such as: agriculture / agronomy, food production, foodtech, nutrition, water management, recycling, environmental protection, and women’s economic empowerment, as long as the projects contribute directly to food security and sustainable community development.

The program is structured as a competition, where organisations submit applications, undergo selection and interviews, and are finally chosen by a jury of experts. By participating, organisations gain funding, technical guidance, networking opportunities, and international recognition, enabling them to make a measurable difference in the fight against hunger.
